“15 If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the
Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you
forever- 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it
neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and
will be in you.” John 14:15-17
This advocate, this Spirit of truth is none other than the
Holy Spirit. The spirit of God that comforts us, strengthens us, gives us
wisdom etc. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we are more than conquerors,
we are above and not beneath, the head and not the tail. It is the reason we
are able to overcome insurmountable odds; with God nothing is impossible.
As believers we encounter many battles throughout our walk
with God. Our sinful nature constantly has our flesh warring with our spirit.
While “in the flesh” we tend to be very irritable and selfishly inclined; our
motives are usually driven by personal contentment. Our objective is usually to
provide quick satisfaction that will only be temporary, and then it’s on to the
next one. It is an insatiable cycle, which will inevitably lead to destruction.
But with the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT we can overcome such things. We can truly
be satisfied, filled with joy, love, peace, patience etc. No longer are our
intentions solely to please ourselves but to please God and be a blessing to
others.
To be filled with the Holy Spirit it doesn’t take much. You
have to truly and whole-heartedly accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Repent of your sins, we are not perfect we all make mistakes, ask God to
forgive you for the wrong you’ve done. You have to truly want to be filled with
the Holy Spirit. Ask God in all sincerity, he isn’t going to force anything on
you and receive it in faith.
Don’t give into the desires of your flesh, be JESUS STRONG, allow yourself to
be led by the Holy Spirit. “21 He that hath my commandments, and keepth them,
he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and
I will love him, and will manifest myself to him” John 14:21
