Thirsty Thursdays: Firm on The Word

“2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ” Colossians 2:2 The key part in that verse is “the full assurance of understanding to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and the Father, and of Christ” This full assurance is received through studying the word, building a foundation and personal relationship with God, fellowship and teachings such as church services and bible study.

“6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and build up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness.” As we go through our daily lives it is imperative we continue to keep God a part of it, as our rock and foundation. Each day we should strive to grow and become more Christ like, using his word, teachings and experiences to strengthen our faith. Be thankful for all the many blessings and favor upon our lives that we receive. Never take God's love, mercy or grace for granted.

“8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” Man attempts to explain everything through some scientific or logical reasoning, from the big bang theory to evolution. But not everything can be explained through man’s logic or scientific reasoning, yet that does not make it any less real. Some tend to argue or wonder how one can believe in a God one can not see and in which there is no visible physical evidence. Yet no one would argue whether or not “wind” is real and if it exists and we cant see that. We only see the effects the wind has as it blows things around and we can feel the wind. We cannot see air but we know it is all around because we breathe it in. Likewise believers feel God, we feel his presence and we also see/feel the effect he has not only on our lives, circumstances and situations but on the lives of others. God is much bigger then man's logic or reason.

Have the full assurance of understanding to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and the Father and of Christ. Continue to live our lives in Christ, rooted and build up in him strengthened in the faith we were taught in. And don’t allow anyone to talk you out of what you know. You’ve built a relationship with the Lord, stand firm on his word. You have had experiences in which you felt the presence of God, times where you were saved by the grace of God, and situations in which you were moved by the spirit. We are living testimonies, made in his image, continue to grow and become more and more Christ like.
