Salvation Sunday: Bring Your Tithes

Have you let someone borrow money or an object from you and never got it back? Are you the type of person to hunt then down? If so, is it because you feel they robbed you? Well, God told His people that they robbed Him. And His people asked how? God replied by saying in your tithes.

We hear in churches so many times about offering and sometimes people don't want to give. I know times are rough but we still gotta give unto God. All God asked of us to give is a tenth. Now, some people why do I have to give my money if God doesn't need this money. But, there are reasons for giving tithes and offerings to church. First, God says bring your tithes so that there may be meat in the house. God understands that churches have bills to pay and things to renew within the buildings. Whether or not we realize it, churches have bills to pay to stay open, such as for air/heat, lights, plumbing services and people that work for them. And then to maintain the building is more money or for concerts or events, there has to be some money. Therefore, we have to do our part and keep the churches functioning.

And God also wants us to give so that He can bless us. When we give, we will receive. God said that He wants to bless us and pour out blessings that we can't contain. My pastor always said there are two questions with finances. One is can we trust God to do what He said He would do? And can God trust us with a supernatural blessing? Let's be for real. If God blessed ya with a million dollars, would you stay giving to God? Would you stay trusting God? This is all important. But, we have to remember that what we sow is what we will reap.

One last thing to remember is that God only asks us to sow just ten percent. If you think about this, this is minor to what we really owe Him!! First of all, God sacrificed HIS ONLY SON for His people that may not accept Christ!! The fact that our sins and our past is under the blood and God remembers them no more is enough to give God as much as we can. Second, everything belongs to God. Jobs, money, education, cars, electricity, breath, success, and life is all because of God. God gave us our gifts, our passions and our opportunities. Therefore, God deserves all of the praise. Everything that we are and everything that we have belongs to God.

Therefore, a little tenth of what we earn is nothing to give to God, especially since He gave us everything. Make sure to give at least a tenth and if God is pushing for more, then give it with a cheerful heart  God loves a cheerful giver.
