Warrior Wednesdays: God’s Armor

Have you ever been the best at something? The best to the point there was no competition.  Like Michael Jordan in his prime, or Michael Jackson. These people were the best in their respective professions. People have been compared to them; however no one is their equal. God’s greatness is incomparable. He stands alone as the ultimate champion of everything which makes sense considering he created the universe. His power is supreme, and his word is true.

To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me that we may be like?” Isaiah 46:5

“…One shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.” Isaiah 46:7

“…for I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me.” Isaiah 46:9

“…My counsel shall stand, and I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.” Isaiah 46:10

There is no one who can be compared to God. No one has the power to do what he can. God is in a category of his own. There are numerous religions in our society and people who worship other gods, but when they cry out to their gods their cries cannot be heard. Their gods cannot answer or save them from trouble like our God! One of the most comforting parts in this passage is knowing what God has spoken will come true. His purpose will happen! We can trust God and rest assured in his power and have confidence in what he says will come true. As Paul states in Ephesians, “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Ephesians 6:10

When we go through tough situations we can stand strong in the power of God. He has prepared us to be able to stand against attacks in our lives. He has given us the armor of God as our protection. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 The Lord’s armor can be found in Ephesians 6:14-17.

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness:”

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace:”

“Above all taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

I once heard Jentezen Franklin, preach a powerful message comparing Christians to the Spartan warriors in the famed movie 300. In the movie one of the most important pieces of the Spartans armor was their shield. They moved as a single unit and all of the warriors had to be able to hold their shield at a certain height in order to protect themselves and their fellow Spartans. The shield served to protect them from the weapons of the enemy. Similarly, to us God has enabled us with the shield of faith, that we are able to be protected from the weapons of the devil. Remember when you are facing attacks in your life to put on the whole armor of God!

Stay Blessed and Continue Warring for Christ!
