GUEST BLOGGER FOR NOVEMBER: Prayer for Protection

GUEST BLOGGER FOR NOVEMBER: LORI

Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man; Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war. They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah. Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah. I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord. O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle. Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah. As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again. Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor. Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence. (Psalms 140:1-13 KJV)

Psalm 140 is about Gods power and His promise to protect us from any evil. David cries out to the Lord to deliver him from his enemies. It seems that David always had enemies because he was doing work for the Lord. Satan has every intention to sidetrack us to stop us from completing the mission of God. The more Satan appears, the more we should be in prayer with God. We should pray that in our everyday walk that we not slip and fall into those traps the enemies have laid down for us. If God be with us, who can be against us? Stand upon the word of God and be not moved!

Three months ago, I started a new job and everyday I am thankful for it. I knew being that this place is so big, that soon there will be gossip. A couple of weeks ago, I came to work one day only to find that I was topic of discussion. It was personal things that I told a supposed "friend" so it immediately hurt my feelings. I went to the restroom and I cried but later got myself together. It is sad that some people wake up with the mindset of ruining someone's day. I think the hardest pill to swallow as Christians is to love people who have wronged us and do kind to the ones who have spitefully used us. It's not an easy task and it's impossible for us to do it on our own. With the help of God is the only way we can achieve it. Only through Him can we overcome any evil.

  1. Great word! You're right the hardest thing to do is to love like Jesus loves. It's difficult but like you said, if we pray then we will be okay. Don't let anyone steal your joy :) If they're talking about you then you're doing something right. Thank you for encouraging me this morning!
