Warrior Wednesdays: John the Baptist- Fulfilling Your Purpose

John the Baptist was unique. He wore interesting clothing, ate abnormal food and preached a strange message to whoever would listen. John recgonized his purpose early in life and carried it out to the fullest. His purpose was to announce the coming of the Lord. He put all of his time and energy fulfilling his purpose.

John was not in a position of power and held no political position but he spoke with authority. Those who heard him were compelled by his words not because he said what they wanted to hear, but because he spoke the truth. He challenged everyone no matter who they were to turn from their sins. John even challenged Herod one of the most powerful men in the Roman empire to repent of his sins. John's passion for his purpose is undeniable.

John never let him self and his fame (hundreds would come to hear him speak and be baptized by him) get in the way of his purpose. He stated " He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30 John accepted that his role would start to diminish as  Jesus would take the forefront. John carried out his purpose until the end of his life.

Like John, God has given each of us a purpose for living, when we trust him he will guide us. John did not have the complete Bible to guide him, but he focused his life on the truth he knew. We too can discover the truth that God wants us to know. As these truths become evident in our lives others will be drawn to the Lord. God made you unique only you can accomplish the purpose that God has created you for. Dedicate your life to carrying out your purpose.
