Well, first in 1 Samuel, David has the opportunity to get rid of his "enemy". He had the opportunity to get rid of Saul but he decided to not mess with him because he was anointed. See when God anoints someone, it is like He is putting a barrier around that person. "If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31). As a child of God, you don't need the gangs or mafia or a certain group to protect you because God or your back. Honestly, this will allow for peace to come into your life.
Romans 14:17 "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."
In the kingdom of God, there is peace. We can have peace because God is our protector and we already have the victory. We don't have to worry about what's going to happen next. If we trust God, He will handle it. Therefore, there is a peace that comes over us and doesn't stress us out. God wants to give us His peace; but the question is are you trusting God to handle it?
Another thing that we receive is joy. When you have peace, you have time to enjoy life. You are not stressed or depressed about life because you know its going to be alright!!! Nehemiah 8:10 says that "the joy of the Lord your strength." I don't know about you but this life is difficult. There are times that I just want to give up and be done with all the chaos and craziness. The only thing that keeps me going is God and the joy that I have received. I know that there will be a brighter day because God has it. I can love life and love everyday that I'm alive. Oh what a joy it is to be in the kingdom of God!!!
There is also righteousness. According to Merriam-Webster, righteousness is defined as being free from guilt or sin. So, there is the ability to be free from guilt or sin. However, as humans, it's extremely hard to not sin. Temptation is everywhere and sinning is part of our nature. However, the last part of the kingdom of God from Romans 14:17 is that the Holy Ghost is there. The Holy Ghost is a gift from God. It allows us to have that direct connection to God. It allows us to realize what we should do to be free from sin or guilt. What an awesome thing it is to be in the kingdom of God!!
In the Old Testament, the Israelites had to sacrifice an animal to receive that righteousness. But glory be to God because Jesus took the price!! So, now we just take our burdens to God so that we can seek His righteousness and receive His peace and joy!!! So, what is different from other groups? There is peace, joy, righteousness, the Holy Ghost and a direct connection with God through Jesus!!!
The kingdom of God is an awesome thing and I'm so grateful to be apart of it!!!
