GUEST BLOGGER MARCH: Good Ground...A Heart That Bears Fruit

Greetings, friends and family in Christ.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank God for assembling the team of writers for this blog.  They are undertaking a great feat by reading the entire bible in a year.  I admire the obedience and persistence of the bloggers.  God planted a seed in their hearts and the fruit bloomed and is feeding a plenitude of people.  Their hearts can be defined as good ground.  There are four different kinds of sowing ground enumerated in Mathew 13.

As Jesus told the parable of the sower to the crowd of people who gathered by the sea shore, he spoke about four different kinds of sowing ground.  The first kind of ground was the way side.  Seed that is sown on this type of ground did not get a chance to flourish as “The fowls came and devoured them up” Mathew 13:4. This is comparable to someone who hears the word of the Lord or the instructions of the Lord and “understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart.”

The second type of ground is the stony place.  The stony place is synonymous to a heart which lacks joy.  The word sticks for a while and then when trials and tribulations arise they lose their joy.  This is a heart that lacks the joy of Christ.  The third type of ground is among the thorns.  This type of the ground is the heart which hears the word but is unable to bear fruit because the “care of this world, and the deceitfulness of richness, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.”

The last type of ground is what can be described as good ground.  This is what I like in the hearts of the writers of this blog too.  As it states in Mathew 13:23, “he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty.”  My prayer for everybody that reads this is that we can get to the point that our hearts are consistently “good ground.”  That every word we hear from the Lord will seep through our hearts and not only disseminate through our beings but bear fruit.

Stay richly blessed,
