Weekly Devotional: Have Life....More Abundantly

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

In today’s society many are not living life enjoying it to the fullest. We have allowed the thief to steal, kill and destroy the quality of life God meant for us to have. How many times have you asked someone about their day or how many times have you been asked and the response sounded a little something like busy, tiring, hectic etc. People are always tense, in a hurry, short tempered, under pressure and or frustrated. Whether it is work related stress, financial stress, academic stress, it is not the way God intended for us to be.

As adults we tend to become prideful, our experiences, life’s issues have compounded and caused us to be less trusting, less forgiving, and more selfish. We think we know it all, we over analyze, complicate and just make things worse. We need to take a deep breath, relax and not only realize but live as if we are blessed and highly favored CHILDREN of God, because we are.

Do you remember your childhood? How carefree and fun and simple life was. You can look at a child now and see how innocent and trusting they are. You at times may even think to yourself how much you would like to go back to those days. Kids are great examples of humility, they have a willingness to be taught, they are trusting, and at peace. They have undoubting faith in their parents. These are all things we as adults should be. We should be at peace knowing our lord and savior our Father loves us and blesses us constantly. We should have undoubting faith, be humble and always willing to learn and improve.

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 18:3

Next time you find yourself stressing, getting all worked up in a fit of rage while driving because you feel as if someone cut you off, making life frustrating and more complicated seek God. Simply changing your outlook on things can help tremendously. Approach God with same kind of innocence and dependence a child would. Trust in him whole heartedly, he will take care of your needs, he will provide.

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly
