But since we belong to the day,
let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of
salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive
salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may
live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as
in fact you are doing.
Sober means
2.
|
not given to
excessive indulgence in drink or any other activity
So in addition to
not getting drunk, God doesn’t want us to get “drunk” on the things in this
temporary life.
He wants us to
keep him first.
How do we do
that??
By having faith
and love in our hearts and our mind focused on the hope of salvation. (putting
on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation
as a helmet)

Having all
of these transforms our mindsets to the point where we realize who we are in
Jesus Christ.
We realize that we don’t have to struggle through
life, be depressed, hopeless, sick, or destined to hell.
We realize that we are more than conquerors through
Jesus Christ,
We realize that the joy of the Lord is my strength,
We realize that by his stripes I am healed,
We realize that we are a royal priesthood,
We realize that we are able to live in heaven with
our Lord for eternity.
So, I encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus. In
other words keep him the center of your heart and mind. When you do this I
promise you won’t sink into the problems of life. You will walk above them just
like Peter walking on top of the water. If you find yourself sinking, don’t
worry Jesus is right next to you to lift you up.
Stay in God’s Perfect Peace, not in pieces=)
