Love does no harm to a
neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
This past week I heard on a
Christian radio station a challenge for all the listeners.
Basically, the challenge
was that when going through a fast food drive through such as Dunkin Donuts,
not only pay for your meal but for the car in back of you. In addition, give a
simple note to the employee to give to the car behind you that states something
like, “Have a blessed day”.
When I heard this
challenge, I’ll admit I was a little critical. I was thinking like “yeah right,
in NJ?? People won’t do this...Maybe in
Tennessee, you know that southern hospitality. But in NJ, yeah right.”
However, a listener called
in to the radio station and told her story of how she was the recipient of that
challenge. As she was talking you could hear how touched she was not only by
the kind gesture but the note given to her as well. She said that morning on
her typical routine of stopping at DDs (Dunkin Donuts) before work, that day
she was feeling really depressed and hopeless. But, when she found out her meal
was paid for already it made her feel a little better, and then when she read
the note left behind for her that read, “ Jesus loves you” that made her feel
even better.
I mentioned this story,
just to say that demonstrating just a small token of God’s love to someone can
go a very long way.
Stay in God’s peace, not in
pieces =)
