Warrior Wednesdays: Is God Trying to Speak to You?

Do you know when God is speaking to you? For many people it is hard to recognize when God is speaking to them. Many people would love to hear the audible voice of God, but he does not always speak that way. Sometimes he speaks in a still small voice, therefore, it is important to learn how to recognize the voice of the Lord. 

Young Samuel heard the voice of the Lord calling him, but was unaware that it was him. He thought it was his mentor Eli. After going to Eli 3 times, Eli preceived that God was speaking to the child and gave Samuel direction on what to do the next time God spoke to him. If you are hearing the same message repeatedly this is probably God trying to get your attention like he was doing with Samuel. Be sure not to ignore God when he is trying to speak to you.  If you are unsure, speak to a mentor or someone who knows the voice of the Lord and ask for help.

It may seem interesting that God would speak to a young boy instead of the high priest, but God chose to speak to Samuel. You may not think God would give an important message to you, but God can use any and everybody. He is looking for those who will obey him and are willing to listen. Even if you do not fully know God or have a solid relationship you can still be chosen like Samuel. "Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord..." Yet, God still spoke to him.

When God begins to call you respond like Samuel, "Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth." Be ready for the message that God has for you.
